A piece of history is up for sale. Colt Model 01 (before the 1964 SP1) bolt carrier group . No forward assist serrations. With transitional Chrome key and bolt. According to Black Rifle II by Christopher Bartocci pages 301 and 302. This is first generation late production for the Colt AR15 model 01. Bolt is stamped with "M" manufacturing code which according to page 307 was an unknown manufacturer that colt used until 1969. As my research can find these were only made in 1960. It's entirely possible that it could have also came out of a original late model 601 when the army was getting away from all Chrome bolt carrier assemblies but still had a chrome keys and bolts. Colt did not start stamping "C" on carriers until 1968.
