These pieces are 100% made in the USA from USA sourced and hand selected Hickory, Ash or Hard Maple, which is the same wood used for baseball bats, hammer and axe handles etc. and can take a real kinetic beating unlike many other wood used for this application. These pieces are also manufactured at a tighter tolerance compared to the standard mil spec stuff (fitting may be required), and have been re engineered and bolstered with thicker walls in the internal dimensions where possible. The inner channel has been redesigned to fit much more snugly around the barrel and trunnion/receiver area, increasing the internal width of the wood and its overall durability significantly! The mounting points have also been improved for more solid mounting and increased integrity to prevent wobble or coming loose over time. These hand guards come with an upgraded mounting screw that is countersunk below the surface of the wood and does not interfere with handling.
