The Heckler & Koch FX03 is a subcompact fixed-blade tanto knife that meets modern functional requirements for military and law enforcement knives and is made from the best materials currently available for this purpose. The strong and sharp tanto blade is ground from powder metallurgical MagnaCut. This steel, developed by Niagara Special Melts and manufactured by Crucible Particle Metallurgy, represents the squaring of the circle in metallurgical terms. Until now, powder metallurgical steels with extremely high cutting performance could only be produced in either a tough, fracture-resistant form or a highly corrosion-resistant form. MagnaCut now optimizes the triangle of properties—cutting durability, toughness, and corrosion resistance—by having a chromium content of 10%, which is the exact saturation limit of the steel. This allows the chromium to be completely dissolved in the crystalline matrix of the steel, resulting in a very fine structure. It has a black coating to protect against reflection. The offset handle and thumb ramp offer maximum safety and power transfer to the cutting edge. The screw-on handle scales made of indestructible fiber-reinforced nylon (FRN) feature the latest HK texture for optimum grip. The flat and slim one-piece folded Kydex sheath provides a firm and secure hold even without additional fastenings, allowing quick access. With the spring steel clip included in the scope of delivery, the sheath can be worn on a belt, in a clothing pocket, or inside the waistband.
