This is an M1 carbine manufactured by the Inland division of General Motors. It’s serial number puts it in the first major block of numbers issued to Inland and the matching Inland-marked barrel is dated March, 1944. The bore is shiny with sharp lands and no pitting or frosting. The carbine appears to have gone through a post war rebuild, with fresh parkerizing, and updated rear site, magazine release, safety and barrel band. The GI stock is unmarked, but the early two – rivet hand guard has manufacturer markings indicating it was made by Saginaw steering gear. The carbine also features an early flat topped bolt and comes with a Utica M4 bayonet and M8 scabbard and one magazine.
